The flight from Nepalgunj to Simikot can be a challenging aspect of this trip due to the unpredictable weather conditions in the region. The weather can change frequently, potentially causing flight delays. Simikot is roughly 216 kilometers from Nepalgunj, and the flight takes about 60 minutes. After arriving in Simikot, you will transfer to your hotel and have free time to acclimatize to the local weather conditions.

On the third day, you will start your day with an early breakfast or packed snacks and then proceed to Simikot airport to board a helicopter to Hilsa. The helicopter journey typically takes around 20 minutes. Upon reaching Hilsa, you will need to cross a swinging bridge to access the Nepal immigration area. After completing the necessary formalities, you'll cross the border on foot and board a Chinese bus for a short 5-minute drive to reach the Chinese immigration office. From there, it's a 27-kilometer drive to get to Taklakot, which is situated at an altitude of 4025 meters.

The fourth day is designated for acclimatization in Taklakot (also known as Burang). You can take it easy at your hotel and, if you wish, explore the nearby markets for a short walk. There are a few shops available in Taklakot for your convenience.

On the fifth day, you will embark on a significant journey to Lake Mansarovar after having breakfast. The drive will take you through picturesque mountains and terrains for approximately one and a half hours. This route will lead you to Lake Rakshas Taal, which is also known as the 'Lake of Demons' or 'Ravan Taal.' From here, you will catch a glimpse of Mount Kailash standing prominently among the neighboring mountains.

Lake Mansarovar is one of the world's highest freshwater lakes, covering an area of 412 square kilometers and located at an elevation of 4,583 meters. The lake is renowned for its remarkable purity and clarity. You'll have ample time to explore the beautiful lake, take holy baths, partake in rituals and prayers, and engage in personal activities. If desired, you can find a suitable spot near the lake for conducting puja/havan and performing rituals according to your customs.

Meals and lodging will be provided at a guesthouse.

This day begins with an early wake-up call, followed by freshening up and then setting out for a drive to Darchen, which is only 35 kilometers away from Chiu Gompa. Darchen serves as the base camp for the circumambulation (parikrama) around Mount Kailash. Pilgrims will have the opportunity to pass through Yama Dwar before commencing the trek. You can choose to undertake the 12-kilometer trek on foot or opt to hire a horse or pony. As you proceed through the trek, you'll encounter beautiful rivers and grasslands, eventually arriving at Dirapuk. At Dirapuk, you'll be greeted by the majestic North Face of Mount Kailash, providing a breathtaking sight that's perfect for photographs and selfies.

You'll check into a guesthouse for an overnight stay.

On the seventh day, an early morning start is essential. If the weather is clear, don't miss the opportunity to witness the stunning "Golden Kailash" as the first rays of sunlight touch the mountain's peak. After this unforgettable experience, it's time to continue the journey towards Zuthulpuk. This 22-kilometer trek is the longest and most challenging day of the entire Yatra, as it includes the highest point at Dolma La pass (5630m). Along the way, before reaching Dolma La, you'll encounter a site featuring the footprints of Milarepa and Shiva Tsal. Shiva Tsal is a place where pilgrims leave behind their possessions, and offer a drop of blood, or a lock of hair as a symbolic act of leaving this life behind and wishing for the end of a difficult existence. In Tibetan Buddhist belief, it is said that you will receive these offerings in heaven after your passing. The journey continues with a climb to Dolma-La pass (5630m) and then descends steeply to Gauri Kund. After crossing Dolma-La, you will spot Gauri Kund (also known as Parvati Kund) downhill to the right of your path. The descent from the top of Dolma La is challenging due to rocky and loose stones, so caution is needed. Afterward, you'll find a flat trail leading to Zuthulphuk Gompa (4790m), where you'll stay in a lodge or fixed tent with a bed, bed sheet, and warm blanket. Dinner will be served quickly, allowing you to retire to a warm bed for rest.

Breakfast will be provided near the guesthouse or camp, and you can spend the morning exploring the caves, temples, and shrines in the area. The temple houses several Tibetan devotees, helpers, and relatives who are responsible for maintaining the structures. Climbing up to these caves before concluding the final trek of the holy Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is a worthwhile experience. Afterward, you will trek approximately 6 kilometers from Zuthulpuk to Chongdo, where vehicles will be waiting for pickup. You will continue to drive to Taklakot for an overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, there will be a 45-kilometer drive to the China-Nepal border. You will cross the border on foot, complete immigration formalities, and reach Hilsa on the Nepal side. From there, you'll take a 25-minute helicopter flight to Simikot and then connect with a flight to Nepalgunj. Upon arriving in Nepalgunj, you'll catch a connecting flight to Kathmandu.

On the tenth day, you will enjoy a full day of sightseeing in Kathmandu, including visits to Pashupatinath Temple, Swyambhunath (also known as the Monkey Temple), and Boudhanath.

Pashupatinath Temple: Pashupatinath Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is situated on the banks of the Bagmati River. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the oldest temple in Nepal. Devotees visit the temple to seek blessings and believe that sins are absolved after a visit.

Swyambhunath: Swyambhunath is an ancient religious complex located atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley. It is renowned for religious harmony between Nepalese Buddhists and Hindus and offers panoramic views of the valley. The stupa is a significant historic shrine.

Boudhanath: Also known as Boudha, it is one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal, located about 11 kilometers from the city center. The stupa symbolizes Buddha's path to enlightenment and is surrounded by monasteries and fine paintings.
