Garden Nyachu is the anniversary of the Nirvana of Tsongkhapa, the revered founder of the Gelukpa school of Tibetan Buddhism, and is a significant occasion in Tibetan culture. On the 25th day of the 10th month of the Tibetan calendar, Tibetans partake in a tradition of making butter lamp offerings.
